Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

Make the most delicious chocolate frosting you’ll ever taste using this simple recipe, then spread it on your favorite cakes or cookies.

 

Ingredients
  • 2 ounces (2 squares) unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled

  • 3 3/4 cups (1 lb.) pkg Domino® Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Yields: About 4 cups frosting

Step 1

Place chocolate in heavy saucepan on very low heat. Stir constantly until just melted; set aside to cool.

Step 2

Combine in large bowl, with mixer at low speed, sugar, butter, milk and vanilla. Beat at medium speed for 1 to 2 minutes, until creamy. Add cooled chocolate and beat until combined. If desired, add more milk until frosting is spreading consistency.

Step 3

Makes enough to fill and frost a 2-layer cake, 13x9x2-inch sheet cake or 24 cupcakes.

Chef's Tips:
  • To melt chocolate in the microwave, place it in a microwaveable bowl on HIGH for 1 to 2 minutes or until almost melted, stirring halfway through heating time. Remove from microwave; stir until completely melted.
